Arthron

The most basic strain of Arthon species. Can be easily dispatched with most conventional weapons. Boasts significant speed and melee pincer weapon.

Brute

The Arthron Brute is a highly mobile melee fighter that can also spit poison at a short distance. It will usually end its turn by deploying its shield. The most evolved strain (Prime) is well armored and its pincer can disable human limbs with a single attack, unless the target is wearing New Jericho Heavy Body Armor. As it lacks any other protection than his shield it is relatively easy to kill with overwatch fire, when it cannot protect itself with shield. Its arms are also vulnerable and can be removed with sniper fire further exposing him (shield arm) or reducing threat (pincer arm).

Shieldbearer

Shieldbearer is a formiddable close combat enemy. Slow but heavily armored it will deploy its shield at the end of turn to further boost its defenses. Highly evolved Shieldbearers are very hard to damage with burst weapons and have no weak spots but are also slow. As pincer is its only weapon destroying his arm will cause him to flee.

Scourge

Arthon Scourge is support/artillery unit capable of shooting grenades at medium range. Its most evolved versions have medium armor and powerful machine gun variation dealing very high damage. It is advisable to dispatch this enemy from long range due to its ability to Return Fire

Tyrant

Tyrant is highly protected ranged grunt that quickly evolve to wield extremely damaging Machine Gun. Attacking Tyrant is risky because he is capable of Return Fire and even if Tyrant loses its Machine Gun he can still deal significant damage with its Spitter Head. Most variants can be easily killed at close range with shotgun due to having weak body and head armor.

Bane

Wielding dreadful viral machine gun and grenade launcher while also well-protected and highly mobile this strain of Arthon is extremely dangerous. Use of heavy armor or vehicles is adviced.

Myrmidon & Dragon

Grenadier strain of Arthon is not particularly dangerous without its Launcher arm which should be a high priority for our snipers when engaging this species.

Umbra

Legacy of the Ancients content.

This creature spawns when an Arthron with the Tar Shadow ability dies. Any Arthron can have this ability; you can spot them because of the purple gas they exhale. However, as it is sometimes hard to spot, after you learn about them in the 'Pandoran intelligence report' you should check all the Arthrons you encounter in the field to see if they have this Tar shadow.png icon.

The creature will have full AP as soon as it spawns and will move and attack your operatives. It has a lot of HP but no armor, so it is particularly vulnerable to high damage per second weapons. It can be Paralyzed paralyzed, requiring 50 Paralyze Damage but not captured.

If the host Arthron is killed with Fire Damage fire the Umbra will not spawn.

One of the best way to deal with Umbra is to avoid killing the host, by disabling its limbs or Paralyzed paralyzing it
